Pure Ceylon Cinnamon
(Cinnamomum zeylanicum)

Cinnamon is a delicious spice highly prized for its medicinal properties for thousands of years, with modern science now confirming what has only been hearsay since ancient times. Cinnamon is considered as an alternative treatment for diabetes mellitus while in one study, Ceylon cinnamon brought insulin levels in diabetic rats close to normal levels. Other studies also support the idea that Ceylon cinnamon is useful for diabetes treatment.

Ceylon cinnamon stimulates insulin-like activity, reducing insulin resistance within the body. This helps glucose metabolise in the liver, according to research. Ceylon Cinnamon is a promising treatment for people looking for alternatives to synthetic insulin therapy. To use cinnamon as an insulin stabiliser, at least 120 milligrams per day is recommended, although a doctor’s advice should be sought before self-medicating.

Ceylon whole Black pepper
(Piper nigrum L.)

Hundreds of years ago, traders traversing the "Silk Route" considered black pepper the king of spices. Known as “black gold,” it was one of the very first items of commerce between India and Europe and was so valuable that entire expeditions were funded in hopes of transporting higher quantities back to Europe as quickly as possible.

Pepper is largely produced as black pepper, which is the dried whole fruit. White pepper is produced by removing outer pericarp, available in crushed and ground forms. A small amount of green and ripened pepper can be pickled in brine, while dehydrated green pepper and preserved red pepper are also traded. Pepper oil and oleoresins are also extracted and marketed as value-added products. Pepper is mainly used as a spice and flavouring agent in the food industry. It also has industrial uses in perfumery and pharmaceutical industries.

Eugenol comprises 72-90% of the essential oil extracted from cloves and is the compound most responsible for the aroma of cloves. Other important essential oil constituents of clove oil include acetyl eugenol, beta-caryophyllene and vanillin, categoric acid, gallotannic acid, methyl salicylate, eugenin, kaempferol, rhammentin, eugenitin, oleanolic acid, stigmasterol and campesterol. Cloves have a carminative effect to increase hydrochloric acid in the stomach and to improve peristalsis. Clove oil is used in various skin disorders like acne, pimples etc. and also used for skin burns, skin irritation and sensitiveness of skin.

One of the most celebrated drinks in the world since its first consignment arrived at the London Tea Exchange in 1873, Ceylon Black Tea has been the lifeline of Sri Lankan export and trade. One of the top 5 tea producing countries in the world, Sri Lanka satisfies over 11% of the global demand for tea and is one of the largest exporters of handpicked orthodox tea to the global market.

Exclusively handpicked and manufactured according to the standard practices of tea manufacturing, Orthodox Ceylon Black Tea can be categorised into several categories, mainly within the whole leaf, broken leaf, fanning and dust grades. The whole leaf grade includes Pekoe, Pekoe 1, Orange Pekoe (OP), Orange Pekoe A (OPA), and Orage Pekoe 1 (OP1) varieties. Broken Leaf varieties of Ceylon Black Tea include Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP), Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe (FBOP), Broken Orange Pekoe One (BOP1) and Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe one (FBOP1)

Ceylon Pure Green Tea

Although Ceylon Tea has long been synonymous with premium quality black tea since its introduction to the global markets in the 19th century, Ceylon Green Tea is a relatively new entrant to the market, sourced from hand-picked buds and leaves mainly grown in the Uva and Nuwara Eliya regions of Sri Lanka. Varieties of Ceylon Green Tea have a very light and sparkling bright yellow colour with a delicate, sweet flavour mostly associated with green teas around the world. Despite their different flavours and varieties, Ceylon Green Tea offers a multitude of health benefits that are scientifically proven.

Exclusively handpicked according to the two leaves and a bud method, Ceylon Green Tea is manufactured according to the traditional Chinese production method and follows the same green tea grading. Sri Lankan green tea manufacturers produce a range of Ceylon Green Tea including Chun Mee Green Tea, Gunpowder Green Tea, Green Curl, Sowmee, Sencha and Green Tea Flowery Fannings, and Green Tea Powder.

White Tea

Nestled between an evergreen rainforest and the vast blue Indian Ocean is the Handunugoda Tea Estate, where Virgin White Tea is manufactured following the Chinese imperial tradition of producing White Tea that is “Never touched by a Human”. At dawn, women wearing delicate gloves would finely pluck the harvest with golden scissors, taking care not to harm the delicate tea buds while, at no point does the hands of the pluckers touch these buds. Thereafter these buds are dried using only filtered sunlight. The gloves prevent any risk of contamination leaving the tea immaculate.

The White Tea bush is unremarkable. The only difference, at a quick glance, is that it’s darker in colour than its close relatives: nothing in fact really makes it stand out in a plantation of mixed tea bushes. However, the real difference comes when you consider the fact that the standard tea-plucker on a tea plantation could collect an average of 30kg per day, whereas a specialized Virgin White Tea plucker would meticulously collect only 160g. Thankfully, one teaspoon of this extraordinary tea can make at least three to four cups of exquisite white tea!

One of the most exquisite, rare, and most expensive teas in the world, Ceylon White Tea produces a very light brew with citrus and honey flavour and is usually consumed without sugar, honey, or milk. The unique flavour and colour of Ceylon White Tea are mainly due to the unique harvesting and manufacturing process it undergoes at the hands of expert tea makers.
